If you are a recent computer science graduate (successfully completed) with exceptional written communication, you could (must!) explore Information development/Technical writing as a career.
Heres a sneak peak into what it takes to be successful at this role.
You must be skilled enough to
- Ask the right questions to solicit critical information
- Articulate an idea or a concept so that your content preempts questions
- Know the difference between a misplaced modifier and a dangling modifier
- Think in English (we might do a Birbal on you)
- Cross your ts and dot your is
- Know how to use any combination of ; { } and all characters that come in between - to interact with browsers, machines, and people
- Write less, but say more. Because writing is 1% inspiration and 99% elimination
You must be willing to
- Understand, simplify and embrace technology
- Take ownership of your tasks, see them to completion, and then take pride in the result
- Develop the DNA and grit required to be at loggerheads with mediocrity
- Put your heart and soul into enabling digital adoption and not get comfortable just towing the line.
- Grow a thick hide. Because its going to be tough love
