Head-Technical Services / Engineering Power Plant

The Functional Head Technical Services & Engineering is responsible for overseeing the technical operations, maintenance strategies, engineering excellence, and process optimization of the power plant. This role ensures the plant operates at peak efficiency, complies with industry regulations, and continuously improves performance through innovation and technology. The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise to drive the reliability, safety, and sustainability of power generation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plant Operations & Performance Optimization

• Oversee technical services and engineering functions to ensure optimal plant performance.
• Develop and implement strategies for efficiency improvement, fuel optimization, and emissions control.
• Monitor and analyze plant performance metrics, ensuring adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant availability and reliability.

2. Maintenance & Asset Management

• Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Lead the implementation of condition monitoring and failure analysis techniques.
• Ensure proper asset management and lifecycle planning for critical equipment and infrastructure.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

3. Engineering & Project Management

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of engineering projects, upgrades, and modifications.
• Ensure capex projects are executed within budget, on time, and aligned with business objectives.
• Work with OEMs and engineering teams to adopt advanced technologies and best practices.
• Develop engineering standards and guidelines to ensure technical excellence.

4. Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Adherence

• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
• Maintain compliance with industry standards, statutory requirements, and ISO certifications.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a zero-incident work environment.
• Work with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to ensure smooth plant operations.

5. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide technical guidance for complex engineering and operational challenges.
• Lead root cause analysis for failures, breakdowns, and process inefficiencies.
• Optimize plant design and operational strategies based on data-driven decision-making.

6. Innovation & Digital Transformation

• Implement Industry 4.0 solutions, including IoT-based monitoring, AI-driven diagnostics, and automation.
• Leverage advanced analytics, Power BI, and digital twin technologies for performance improvement.
• Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon footprint reduction.

7. Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and mentor a team of technical experts, engineers, and maintenance professionals.
• Foster a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in power plant operations, engineering, and maintenance.
• Strong expertise in thermal power plants, combined cycle plants, or renewable energy systems.
• Experience in asset management, plant automation, and reliability engineering.
• Knowledge of CMMS, SAP, and predictive maintenance technologies.
• Proficiency in regulatory compliance, EHS standards, and ISO certifications.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.
