As a Wealth Management(WM) Investment Risk & Analytics (IR&A) Vice President, you will be responsible for review of Global Wealth Management business. IR&A's Client Risk team is responsible for review of the first line of defense investment fiduciary and suitability activities i.e., acting in the client's best interest and recommending products in alignment with a client's willingness to take risk and financial situation within the Private Bank. This team provides risk review and deep-dive assessments of suitability and fiduciary activities, metrics, and control activities for JPM Wealth Management (JPMWM). You will work closely with other Risk Management colleagues, the Business, and key control functions including Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Control Management, to provide valuable assessment and feedback regarding suitability and fiduciary issues and emergent risks.
Job responsibilities:
- Contribute to the Client Risk management framework for Global JPM Wealth Management (JPMWM) in accordance with regulations, ensuring that Client Risk including Suitability, Counterparty, Fiduciary Risk can be properly identified, measured, and overseen on an ongoing basis.
- Enhance and execute the risk governance processes including standards and procedures, internal risk limits administration, escalation, and resolution as well as maintain related control documents including frameworks, guidelines and procedures related to WM Fiduciary and Client Risk oversight.
- Identify risk issues in the business and perform reviews into such areas to identify gaps and recommend risk mitigation strategies and engage in regular dialogue with the business; provide informed review to various business teams to resolve outstanding Risk issues including program managers and investments business.
- Represent Risk in committees/forums and review key risk issues, as appropriate and evaluate and provide feedback on committee materials and metrics ahead of meetings and contribute to preparatory sessions with the Fiduciary Risk Lead to review agenda items and participate in WM Business and Risk Committees to provide support and risk review.
- Represent Risk Management in regulatory exams and internal audits
- Lead a team of risk managers in contributing towards global risk oversight activities and mentor and develop junior colleagues, and guide them towards realizing their full potential
Re Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Engineering or similar fields.
- Minimum 10 Years of financial risk management, preferably in Asset Management, Wealth Management or Private Bank, with 7 years of experience in portfolio risk management, investing approaches, with a focus on Suitability, Counterparty and Fiduciary Risk.
- Have experience in managing diverse and inclusive teams of high-performing contributors
- Are comfortable working with large, diverse data sets
- Familiarity with all types of financial instruments including of mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, private investments, derivatives and structured products
- Familiarity with OCC, SEC, and FINRA financial regulations, especially investment management regulations.
- Ability to persuade business partners while working constructively to achieve a common goal.
- Proficiency in communicating with senior management, including sensitive situations.
- Control mentality - naturally skeptical, with an ability to anticipate unforeseen consequences.
- Self-starter with ability to initiate, plan, execute and manage projects.
- Use your knowledge to find answers to pressing problems and create workable solutions.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Master's degree in Finance or similar fields, CFA, FRM will be preferred
- Are analytically inclined, with knowledge of data visualization tools (ex. Tableau) or programming (ex. VBA, Python) being an added advantage
