GL Accounting Head

Purpose of the role

Purpose is to lead the financial control and reporting function. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data, compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial insights to support decision-making and drive business growth. You will also need to manage the service levels and performance of the centralised financial reporting and consolidation

Key Role & Responsibilities

Oversee the general ledger accounting and financial reporting and consolidation processes for VBL (in coordination with other finance SSC teams)- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations- Own observations from India CFO and drive for timely closure of accounts- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring proper accruals and adjustments are made- Ensure accurate financial reports and presentations (including cash flows) for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance metrics and financial risks.- Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the audit process- Ensure local compliance with relevant laws, regulations including tax; others- Drive digitization of processes, as needed

Job specifications

Experience-

- 12 to 15 Years of relevant experience- Proven experience as a Finance Controller or similar role within in the FMCG or manufacturing industry

- Track record of managing financial reporting, internal controls, and financial analysis

- Familiarity with IND AS for preparation of consolidated and stand alone financial statement

Qualification-

- Bachelor's and Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA would be advantageous)

- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10+ years of post qualification experience

Behavioural - Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and guide a finance team effectively- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and financial integrity- Proactive approach to problem-solving and financial analysis

Functional- Thorough understanding of financial control and compliance practices- Knowledge of financial analysis and performance metrics- Familiarity with pricing strategies and their impact on profitability

Technical- Proficiency in financial accounting and reporting standards (e.g., Ind AS)- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis techniques and ability to provide guidance on modeling variables to perform scenario analysis etc- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and financial reporting software (FCCS)
