Job Overview :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced SAP Data Volume Management (DVM) Specialist to join our team in Chennai. This role requires a professional with expertise in SAP DVM to manage and optimize the data volumes across SAP systems. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of SAP data lifecycle management, data volume reduction strategies, and best practices for data archiving, retention, and purging.

Key Responsibilities :

Data Volume Management :

- Responsible for managing and monitoring SAP system data volumes, ensuring optimal system performance and efficient use of storage.

- Analyze data growth patterns, and develop strategies to proactively manage data volumes.

- Implement and optimize SAP data retention policies, archiving strategies, and data purging activities.

SAP Archiving and Data Retention :

- Design and implement data archiving solutions in SAP, including both technical and functional aspects.

- Coordinate and execute SAP data archiving projects, ensuring compliance with data retention and legal requirements.

- Ensure archiving objects are properly configured in SAP and test the archiving process for accuracy and efficiency.

Data Reduction and Optimization :

- Work on data reduction initiatives, such as data compression, deletion, and purging to reduce system data load.

- Regularly perform system health checks, identifying opportunities to improve performance by managing data volumes effectively.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data lifecycle management processes and ensure smooth integration into business workflows.

Collaboration with SAP Basis Team :

- Work closely with the SAP Basis team to monitor the system's database performance and conduct capacity planning.

- Ensure efficient data backups, restoration, and system recovery processes in the context of data volume management.

- Assist in troubleshooting data-related performance issues and take corrective action to resolve them.

Reporting & Documentation :

- Create and maintain detailed documentation of data volume management activities, including archiving schedules, data management strategies, and best practices.

- Provide regular reports to stakeholders on system data usage, archiving statuses, and overall performance metrics.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in SAP Data Volume Management, Archiving, and Data Retention.

- Strong experience in SAP Data Archiving tools and SAP standard archiving objects.

- Good understanding of SAP database management, including SAP HANA, Oracle, or other RDBMS technologies.

- Experience working with SAP Basis and other SAP functional teams to manage data growth and system performance.

- Knowledge of SAP Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) best practices.

- Proficiency in monitoring and optimizing SAP data volumes and performance.

- Familiarity with SAP BW and SAP S/4HANA systems is a plus.

- Experience with tools such as SAP Data Services, SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management), and other related SAP solutions is advantageous.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Certification in SAP Data Volume Management or related SAP certifications.

- Knowledge of data security, compliance, and data privacy regulations.

- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA migration and data volume optimization.

Educational Qualification : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
