Facilities Manager, Datacenter

Responsibilities:

1. Facility Operations Management:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center facility.
• Ensure all critical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) are functioning optimally.
• Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems.
2. Infrastructure Management:
• Manage the physical infrastructure including power distribution, cooling systems, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), and generators.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs, upgrades, and installations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
3. Risk Management:
• Identify potential risks to data center operations and implement mitigation plans.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
4. Budgeting and Cost Control:
• Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the facility.
• Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives where possible.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers.
5. Environmental Monitoring:
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and air quality.
• Implement measures to optimize energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
6. Team Management:
• Lead and supervise a team of facility technicians and support staff.
• Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
7. Client Relationship Management:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding facility-related matters.
• Address client inquiries, issues, and requests promptly and professionally.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and operational metrics.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management on facility performance and key metrics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience (10 years) in facility management, preferably in a data center environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure (power distribution, cooling systems, etc.).
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standards).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Certifications such as CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or similar are advantageous.

Working Conditions:

• This position may require on-call availability and occasional work outside of regular business hours to respond to emergencies or critical issues.
• Physical requirements may include lifting and carrying equipment, walking long distances, and working in confined spaces.
