Senior Design Engineer - Engineering

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in the design and development of pressure-bearing parts, commercial and Industrial Valves for refrigeration and air conditioning systems with expertise in casting, forging and sheet metal processes. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and change management skills to collaborate effectively with engineers across multiple sites and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Design Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with PED (Pressure Equipment Directive), UL, CCC standards and meeting customer-specific requirements.
The employee will be part of the RAC Engineering organization in Danfoss, and will report to the local Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities

1.    Design and Development:

o    Develop and optimize pressure-bearing parts with a focus on casting and forging processes.
o    Engineering for commercial and Industrial Valves for refrigeration and air conditioning systems
o    Create and maintain detailed drawings and documentation for components and assemblies.
o    Utilize 3D CAD software for design and modeling tasks.
o    Perform simulations and eliminate physical testing.

2.    Collaboration and Communication:
o    Work closely with engineers across multiple sites to ensure design alignment and knowledge sharing.
o    Act as a key point of contact for design-related discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
o    Translate customer-specific requirements into actionable design solutions.

3.    Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:

o    Identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues promptly.
o    Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
4.    Regulatory and Compliance:
o    Ensure all designs comply with PED, UL, CCC standards and other relevant regulations.

5.    Change Management:

o    Manage design changes effectively through established change management processes.
o    Maintain accurate records of design revisions and ensure seamless implementation.

Background & Skills:

•   Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
•    8-10 years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on pressure-bearing parts, casting, and forging.
•    Experience with flow control valves and other refrigeration components.
•    Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
•    Hands-on experience with simulation tools
•    Strong knowledge of drawing documentation standards and practices.
•    Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
•    Experience in change management processes and tools.
•    Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
•    Knowledge of PED, UL, CCC requirements and approval processes.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience in designing for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA).
•    Familiarity with additional regulatory standards and industry best practices.
•    Advanced training or certifications in CAD or simulation tools.
