Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Packaging Design Engineer with 8-10 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in packaging design, validation testing, and sustainability principles. This role will focus on creating innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible packaging solutions for single, multi-pack, industrial, and palletized packaging. The employee will be part of the RAC Engineering organization in Danfoss, and will be interacting with global stakeholders across Europe, Asia pacific and Americas.

Job Responsibilities

Packaging Design and Development:

• Design and develop packaging solutions for single packs, multi-packs, industrial packs, and palletized packaging.
• Ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, and structural requirements while optimizing cost and sustainability.

Validation Testing:

• Conduct and oversee packaging validation tests as per various standards such as ISTA, ASTM,IC etc, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Analyze and document test results to refine packaging designs and improve performance.

Sustainability and ESG Integration:

• Imbibe ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into packaging designs.
• Develop sustainable packaging solutions that align with company goals and industry best practices, including material reduction, recyclability, and use of eco-friendly materials.
• Global mindset in developing packaging and optimized for global markets and ESG ambitions

Collaboration and Cross-functional Coordination:

• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure packaging solutions align with broader business objectives.
• Liaise with external suppliers and testing agencies to source materials and validate designs.

Technical Documentation and Compliance:

• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for packaging designs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant packaging regulations, standards, and certifications.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to drive innovation in packaging solutions.
• Lead initiatives to improve packaging processes and reduce waste.
• Optimize by reusing the existing packaging components available within the organization.

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 8-10 years in packaging design and engineering, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• Expertise in Industrial products Packaging, export packaging,
• Experience in designing packaging using various materials such as corrugated cardboard, solid board, wood, metal, plastics etc
• Experience in working with SAP and PLM/Teamcenter
• Technical Proficiency:
• Expertise in validation testing as per ISTA / ASTM standards.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, tools and equipment, manufacturing processes, and structural design, supply chain operations such as production, warehouse, logistics and distribution.
• CAD tools such as AutoCAD/ ArtiosCAD / Impact
• Sustainability Expertise:
• Proven experience integrating ESG principles and sustainable practices in packaging designs.
• Familiarity with recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable packaging materials.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present ideas and solutions clearly.
• Travelling Local supplier and test labs within India. Abroad if needed by the project.
