Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Design to lead our design team and oversee the creation of innovative and visually compelling designs across all digital and print platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of design principles, and a strategic mindset to drive design excellence and elevate the brand experience. As the Head of Design, you will be responsible for leading the design department, collaborating with other teams, and ensuring that design initiatives align with the company’s overall objectives and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and manage the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Provide direction and guidance to senior designers, junior designers, and freelance contributors.
Ensure design team members meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work while maintaining a positive and productive work culture.
Conduct performance reviews and support professional development of the design team.
Design Strategy Vision:
Develop and implement a cohesive design strategy that aligns with the company’s brand, goals, and target audience.
Define design processes, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all design outputs.
Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging design technologies, and tools to incorporate into the design workflow.
Work closely with executive leadership to understand business goals and translate them into effective design strategies.
Project Oversight Execution:
Oversee the design of key projects, including website design, mobile apps, print materials, digital campaigns, and product designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and content, to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions.
Manage design timelines, resources, and budgets for multiple projects concurrently.
Review and approve all design deliverables, ensuring they meet company standards and align with the overall vision.
Brand Development Consistency:
Ensure brand guidelines and visual identity are consistently applied across all channels and platforms.
Develop and evolve the company’s brand, ensuring it remains fresh, engaging, and aligned with industry trends.
Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s core values and target audience to create designs that resonate with customers.
Innovation Creativity:
Encourage and lead the team in exploring new creative ideas and innovative design approaches.
Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the design team.
Act as a champion for design thinking across the organization, ensuring that design solutions meet business objectives and improve user experience.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in a design leadership role, with a proven track record in managing teams and delivering successful design projects.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Skills:
Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Sketch, Figma, InVision, etc.
Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles, responsive design, and user-centered design practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to present and defend design decisions to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Strong portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of design work (digital, print, branding, etc.).
Attributes:
Highly creative, with a strong eye for detail and a passion for design.
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance creativity with business needs.
Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity.
Desired Attributes:
Knowledge of design trends, new technologies, and emerging platforms.
Experience in building and scaling design teams.
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
Familiarity with motion graphics, animation, and multimedia design.
Understanding of front-end development and the ability to collaborate with development teams on web-based projects.
