Exploring the role

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the full payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and guaranteeing timely disbursement of salaries. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Indian payroll systems, taxation, and statutory compliance, along with proficiency in payroll software and attention to detail.

How your day will look like/Job responsibility

• End-to-End Payroll Processing: Manage the complete payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements. •Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Indian payroll regulations, including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax (PT), Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), and Income Tax (TDS) deductions. •Taxation and Filing: Handle tax computations, withholdings, and remittances for income tax (TDS). Ensure timely filing of returns and generate Form 16 and Form 24Q for employees. •Employee Queries: Address and resolve employee queries related to payroll, taxation, benefits, and deductions promptly. •Audit & Reconciliation: Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance, identifying discrepancies and rectifying them in a timely manner. •Monthly & Year-End Reports: Prepare and deliver accurate payroll reports for management and statutory bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. •Consulting & Advisory: Provide expert advice on payroll-related issues, statutory obligations, and changes in tax laws.

Education & Work Experience

• 4- 8 years of experience in payroll processing and consulting in India, with expertise in Indian labor laws, taxation, and compliance. •Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of Indian payroll systems and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, income tax, etc.). •Experience working with payroll software like SAP, ADP, Zoho Payroll, or other Indian payroll solutions. •Knowledge of Indian taxation, including TDS calculations, filings, and compliance with Indian Tax Department regulations.

Skills

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and employees. •Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. •Proficiency in using payroll automation tools and integrating them with accounting systems. •Capability to adapt to changes in legislation and compliance requirements while working under tight deadlines.
