Job Title: Plant Manager

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical)
Company is a leader in the plywood and laminate industry. We are looking for a seasoned Plant Manager to lead our Guwahati manufacturing facility and drive operational excellence.
Job Summary: The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire plant's operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes while meeting the highest standards for quality, productivity, safety, and environmental compliance. The role demands an experienced professional who can independently manage plant operations and support the Unit Head by taking full charge during his absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth production flow, on-time delivery, and adherence to production schedules.
- Implement process improvements to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Ensure that production targets, including quality and cost-efficiency, are met or exceeded.
People Management:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and support to employees to enhance their technical and operational skills.
Quality Control:
- Implement and monitor quality control systems to maintain high product standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies related to product quality.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations related to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
Inventory and Resource Management:
- Oversee the procurement and inventory management of raw materials, ensuring optimal stock levels and cost control.
- Work closely with suppliers and logistics to maintain a seamless supply chain.
- Ensure on-time delivery to customers by closely monitoring production schedules, coordinating with logistics, and proactively addressing potential delays.
Cost Control and Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage plant budgets, optimizing costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
- Identify and implement process improvements and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Drive innovation in manufacturing practices and technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development.
- Excellent understanding of production planning, scheduling, and quality control.
- Proficient in Lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
- Knowledgeable about safety standards, regulatory compliance, and environmental standards.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical).
- 15-20 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the wood, plywood, or related industry
- Demonstrated track record in a managerial role within a plant setting.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and familiarity with inventory management tools is a plus.
