Direct reports (3-member team) handle legal research, compliance, due diligence, and arbitration matters.
Job Purpose:
The Director of Legal provides legal counsel, develops strategies, ensures compliance, and manages legal documentation for deals. They also oversee due diligence and support business units on contracts, driving legal and funding strategies for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualifications & Experience:
M&A Management:
Oversee M&A projects, due diligence, deal documentation, and funding rounds.
Ensure alignment of Company Secretary (CS) actions with funding requirements.
Legal Documentation & Compliance:
Prepare and standardize legal documents for funding rounds and acquisitions.
Ensure compliance with India s legal framework for all brands.
Brand & IPR Management:
Manage IPRs, ensure legal protection, and provide brand legal support.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including CS, to ensure compliance.
Risk Mitigation:
Analyse and mitigate legal risks across operations, implementing solutions.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and mentor the legal team, focusing on talent development and succession planning.
Legal Compliance:
Improve legal compliance processes and resolve legal issues efficiently.
Law degree (LLB) from a recognized university.
Post-graduate qualifications (LLM) or a professional certification in corporate law, M&A, or related fields (preferred).
8+ years of experience in corporate law, M&A, and legal compliance.
Strong background in managing legal due diligence, funding rounds, and secretarial actions for M&A.
Experience with compliance management in complex legal frameworks, preferably within India.
Previous experience in brand protection, IPR management, and working with diverse stakeholders.
