Director - Software Engineering - Banking Industry

Responsibilities:

- Lead and grow the engineering team, with an active focus on hiring and onboarding new team members to be successful in their roles.

- Develop engineers to advance in their careers.

- Ensure a reliable experience for customers across all properties, while simultaneously enabling a rapid pace of development and agile iteration.

- Set the tone and direction for the engineering team, supporting a culture of code quality, documentation, and thoughtful design tradeoffs.

- Anticipate strategic and scaling challenges via intentional long-term planning.

- Break down projects into reasonable MVPs.

- Interface directly with company and technology leaders to ensure your teams' activities align with overall product and company goals.

- Oversee maintenance of a sustainable engineering platform while also shipping features at a steady clip.

- Ensure our production applications are stable and operating as expected.

- Guide team leads along their career paths and provide feedback; oversee cadence of meetings, code reviews and project management.

- Identify and address bottlenecks early.

- Contribute to our strategic technology planning.

- Assist with fleshing out, prioritizing, and driving our product roadmap.

About you:.

- 20+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, preferably multiple teams, in an agile environment.

- 5+ years of full time, full-stack web application development experience across frontend, backend, and infrastructure and have a solid understanding of technical fundamentals.

- 3+ years of experience working with Angular, IONIC and typescript.

- Strong track record of recruiting and retaining high performing engineering talent.

- A history of hands-on technical ownership on high-impact engineering projects.

- Strong command of verbal and written communication to drive alignment and collaborate across functional teams.

- Ability to interface with and influence leaders across an organization with poise.

- Competency to foster and build a culture of success, accountability and teamwork.

- Experience in guiding development of observable systems with robust metrics and alerts.

- Overseeing build and consumption of RESTful APIs.

- Ability to navigate in a nimble environment and drive success in unknown territory.

- Bachelors in Computer Science or a related field.
