Azure Database Administrator

Role & responsibilities :-

• Hands on experience in architecting, setting up and configuring database instances, clusters, and replication in non-cloud and cloud environments to meet scalability, performance, and cost optimization objectives, while ensuring data integrity and security.
• Perform routine database administration tasks such as backups, upgrades and audits.
• Implement security measures and data encryption for database environments to maintain the highest security possible.
• Proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization to ensure query performance is maintained at required levels.
• Experience in setting up and monitoring database metrics, auditing and mitigation planning in case of issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, testing and stakeholders) to understand business requirements and design solutions for databases.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Identify opportunities for automation and scripting to streamline routine database administration tasks. Implement scalability strategies to accommodate growing data volumes and increased user demands.
• Stay updated with the latest cloud database technologies and trends to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
• Evaluate cloud services and technologies to determine the best fit for specific use cases.

Preferred candidate profile :

Required Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as Azure Database Administrator (PaaS, SaaS), with Implementations, Upgrades, Migrations, conversions, and consolidation Projects with Microsoft SQL Server Databases.
• Have a good working understanding in Core SQL DBA Architecture, Backups/Recovery and Performance Tuning exercise, monitoring and champions automation (PowerShell) to work at the highest level of all phases of Database Administration
• Evaluates and proposes design and process improvements to achieve performance and cost optimization
• Identifies inefficiencies in current database designs and oversees the implementation of improved solutions
• Supports strategic planning for database architecture, resource management, and capacity planning and growth
• Implements effective risk management controls and owns adherence to all compliance related items (exceptions, waivers, risks, technical compliance, and access control
• Plans and implements capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability of databases
• Troubleshooting and deep dive into SQL server issues / performance
• Ensures best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and resilience
• Leads incident resolution efforts and engages appropriate resources to complete corrective actions as quickly as possible i.e. Takes ownership of problems & incidents.
• Manages root cause analysis and problem management activities for continuous improvement initiatives, incident reduction, and performance enhancement
• Plans and participates in disaster recovery exercises, system failover planning, and testing
