Role & responsibilities

The Factory Manager with a mechanical background is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility. This role involves managing production processes, ensuring the facility runs efficiently, and maintaining high-quality standards. The Factory Manager will lead a team of supervisors, technicians, and operators, and will be tasked with improving productivity, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring the proper maintenance of machinery and equipment. A strong understanding of mechanical systems, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes is crucial for success in this role.


  • Production Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all production activities to meet production goals, quality standards, and deadlines.
  • Optimize production processes, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Monitor production schedules and workflows to ensure adherence to timelines and targets.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Quality Control, Procurement) to ensure smooth operations and resource availability.

  • Team Leadership & Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of production supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance staff.
  • Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities for the team to enhance skills and performance.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, safety, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to improve team productivity and morale.

  • Maintenance & Equipment Management:
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and serviced regularly to avoid breakdowns and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and repair protocols.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and work closely with maintenance staff to address technical problems promptly.
  • Oversee the installation of new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper calibration and setup.

  • Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure the factory operates in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards and best practices to create a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing potential hazards immediately.
  • Provide training on safety procedures and emergency protocols for all factory staff.

  • Quality Control & Continuous Improvement:
  • Oversee the implementation of quality control processes to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and initiate continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques to improve operations.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, and efficiency.

  • Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the procurement and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of materials and components required for production.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
  • Ensure effective use of resources, reducing excess materials and waste.

  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance, issues, and improvements to senior management.
  • Document production processes, maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and any incidents or accidents.
  • Track budget and expenses related to production and operational costs.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, machinery, and manufacturing processes. Experience with CAD software, ERP systems, and maintenance management tools is a plus.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing teams, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to address complex mechanical and operational issues.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions for improvements.
  • The position is based in the factory, with a hands-on approach to overseeing daily operations.
  • Occasional travel may be required for off-site meetings, training, or equipment procurement.
  • The role requires flexibility to work in shifts or extended hours depending on production demands.
  • Minimum AGE: 40+ years
