Infrastructure engineer - AVP

Role & responsibilities

• Engineer infrastructure technology for use within public and private cloud environments
• Engineer infrastructure technology to comply with security, resilience, sustainability and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in
• Use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately i.e. through a users CI/CD pipeline
• Collaborate with Stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement
• Ensure stable delivery and operation of the database infrastructure (Primarily Oracle and AWS RDS with preference for MSSQL, AWS Aurora & PostgreSQL) cloud-based or on-prem
• Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications
• Analysis and improvement of performance of the database, in collaboration with application developers
• Product ownership - creating roadmaps, life cycles and documentation based on internal standards and processes
• Support the capacity management process, delivering meaningful reporting and input for continuous improvement
• Participate in on-call rosters & to provide technical support outside of normal business hours
• Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands
• Highly standardized, automated and fast deployment of new databases
• Applying of critical patch updates for databases

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience working as Database Administrator for at least one specific DB technology
• Preferably experience with AWS RDS databases and necessary services in AWS
• Experience in setup of resource monitoring with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and its analysis on Oracle database servers
• Knowledge of Oracle database specific tools e.g. RMAN and Oracle RAC
• Experience with Backup Systems, preferably CommVault
• Experience working in cross-functional, multinational, and geographically dispersed teams, matrix organisation
• Working knowledge of the full technology lifecycle, ITIL
• Experience of high availability solutions, disaster recovery, business continuity technologies and integration methodologies
• Good technical understanding of a complex IT Infrastructure (> 800 Servers)
• Able to resolve incidents under pressure in a structured manner
• Customer focus and a service-oriented mind-set
• Operating system (Solaris, Redhat & Windows Server) experience would be an asset
• Experienced in ITIL for Incident, Change and Problem Management
• Good English/ Communication
