PVC Engineer - Nigeria

Job Brief

The role of the PVC Engineer is primarily to support the running of the factory by ensuring that production in the shift will meet the shift production targets, as per the defined quality specifications and within the norms of rejection and wastage.

Responsibilities:

• Expected to ensure that optimal process settings are done to achieve the accepted quality and optimum output.
• Has complete technical knowledge to handle a production plant
• Has ability to trouble shoot and take quick action
• A comprehensive understanding of various formulations of PVC, Sound processing knowledge of PVC extrusion and upright understanding of quality systems is a must.
• Sound knowledge of maintenance of PVC extruders and the downstream equipment.
• Provides leadership to the employees of the plant and must be capable of handling a large work force.
• Exhibit a high degree of Integrity characterized by sound judgment, high ethical standards and leadership capabilities.
• Incumbent Is expected to follow the production plan as set out by the Factory manager.
• Ensure workers discipline in the plant to monitor their assigned work, their opening/closing/break time’s.
• Ensure all required records of production, wastages, rejection, grindings, FG transfers, quality parameter records are properly recorded and all materials accounted for the shift.
• Ensure housekeeping is maintained at all times.
• Ensure all important tools, spares on the shop floor are secured from theft.
• Attend to breakdowns ensuring that there is always a rapid response and that plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimized. Always endeavor to reduce downtime of plant and machinery.
• Carry out repairs to plant and equipment during production, effectively and efficiently, either alone and/or as part of a team;
• Maintaining tools and equipment, so that they are in a safe working condition; as well as making sure that the workshop and plant rooms are safe environments at all times;
• Always adhere to Technical procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP);
• Work in a clean and orderly manner in compliance with the Company’s Hygiene Code of Practice; and
• Ensure all Health and Safety standards are met and that all equipment complies with Company and legal standards.

ª Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;

ª Must have effective communication skills (written and verbal);

ª Computer literate and a working knowledge of MS Office;

ª Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings/manuals;

ª A logical and flexible approach to working;

ª Demonstrate a sense of urgency and should be proactive in driving through continuous improvement initiatives; and

ª Possess excellent decision making skills.
