Plant Operation Head - General Manager (Powertrain Business Unit)

Role & responsibilities

• The functions which come under Plant head role are: Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering & EHS.
• Overall responsibility and accountability for the assigned location, which will include production, people and budgetary management.
• Strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing manufacturing strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimizing production levels and driving operational excellence.
• Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders regarding technical support for activities, striving for best-in-class products and business practices to deliver to the customer's expectations, managing teams and projects across the business.
• Provide support to all manufacturing teams and manage efficient integration of workflow. Ensure compliance with all schedules for machines and facilities and assist in installation of all equipment's
• Support project management to cross functional activity required for project execution
• Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to. Implement and monitor the QPCDSM based production [Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale] to achieve optimum capacity utilization.
• Ensure that manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market.
• Create and implement the best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
• Implement a customer focused operational culture delivering world class customer service levels
• Coordinate team activities to optimize cost performance of the plant through optimizing operating working capital usage and minimizing waste through the development of a continuous improvement culture encompassing lean principles and clear strategic development
• Develop and manage master production schedule and operations budgets for products to directly support and ensure that the product is delivered to agreed cost, quality and timeline

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• B.E/M.E. in Mechanical Engineering with at least 15 years of experience in Automotive Industry
• 15-20 years of Relevant experience in Heading the Continuous process plant/Unit
• We are looking for someone from Tier1 industries only who has handled complicated assemblies.

Preferred Skills / Competencies

• Ability to design processes and layouts.
• Hands on in Lean Manufacturing activities, strong on manufacturing practices, knows TPM/TQM.
• Sound on people & team management.
• Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem solving), process improvement and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques.
• Full understanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
• Ability to sustain and develop team working and team-based problem solving.
• High level of numerical and analytical ability.
• Possess the ability to lead and motivate a team of people to succeed by utilising appropriate interpersonal styles including leading by example, setting objectives, and defining responsibilities to give a clear sense of direction.
• Ability to build effective relationships with work colleagues.
