Senior Manager - Manufacturing Engineering

Role & responsibilities

• Work with the CFT (cross functional team): guide and assist in the in-house development of new processes
• Conceptualize the new processes and process flows, which would include machines, jigs, fixtures, tools, instruments etc that have to be introduced / designed / purchased and provide inputs to the team.
• Prepare the timing plan - Ensure thorough review of timelines for the department that the progress is as per the time plan.
• Check and review that the members of the department coordinate with the suppliers for procurement and trials.
• Compare the techno commercial viability with the quotation of the supplier and finalize the supplier after negotiation.
• TQM

• Analyze the facility requirement and prepare the Capex plan for the facilities
• Assist in NPD by planning and creating capable facilities
• Facilitate the capacity enhancement in the plant to meet demand of new facilities (such as new equipment, etc)
• Check and review that the members of the department coordinate with the suppliers for procurement and trials.
• Compare the techno commercial viability with the quotation of the supplier and finalize the supplier after negotiation.
• Ensure through review of timelines for the department that the progress is as per the time plan.
• Ensure trial runs of the new machine etc and review the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) created by team members before handing over the processes and machines etc to the manufacturing team work with manufacturing / PD / quality for this purpose

Assist and guide the team (intra) in:

• Working towards reducing the cycle time of operations, revising the layout, elimination and reduction of NVAs
• Reduction of tooling cost
• Identifying bottleneck operations (through GEMBA reviews, customer complaint, shop rejection, engineering change, productivity / process improvement), etc) and prioritize the issues.
• Devise better improved tools for various processes
• Monitor tooling cost through review of periodic reports/ rejection figures, complaints, tool history and efficiency data, etc and identify methods for cost reduction
• Monitor through reports, breakdown figures, etc the repair cost and ensure proper maintenance through the concerned department.
• Analyzing problems (customer, rejections, etc) and identify ways and means of removing bottlenecks (in machines, tools, fixtures, jigs, etc) and give inputs to the team.
• Conceptualizing newer and improved ways of doing current operations and provide inputs to the team (such as revising plant layout, new generation tools, low cost automation, etc).
• Devising a suitable manufacturing system and facilitating implementation
• Promote proactive and reactive improvement in the process, layout, methods, tools etc. to improve robustness
• Identify critical operations and give inputs to the team to ensure the reduction of errors through these operations
• Track past performance data to identify focus areas for improving the robustness of the process
• Facilitate in reducing the errors made by operators - coach others (in the department) in implementing the concept of poka yoke through detection systems/ warning systems, etc in order to reduce the errors by operators.
• Analyzing problems (customer, rejections, etc) and identify ways and means of removing / reducing errors (in machines, tools, fixtures, jigs, etc) and give inputs to the team.
• Communicate and educate the employees on different quality concepts to be practiced in the company such as 5S, Kaizen, QC Tools/ QC Story, PFMEA, DOE, TQM, APQP, Pokayoke, SMED, manufacturing systems New 7 QC tools, Benchmarking etc.

Preferred candidate profile

• Knowledge and problem solving through 7 QC Tools/ Kaizen Skill
• Exposure to IATF standards compliance.
• Process and programming knowledge in HMC & VMC CNC Machine for Fanuc & Sinumeric systems
• Knowledge in Gear Assembly
• Knowledge in Hydraulic Press.
• Good Communication in English / Good knowledge in MS Excel / PPT
• Leadership Skill - Ability to make Decision
• Ability to set right CNC Machines during crisis.
