Project title: Maharashtra Drone Mission

About the project: A government-funded initiative at IIT Bombay focusing on the development and demonstration of drone and allied technologies. This project aims to address various applications through the utilization of advanced technologies and critical infrastructure. We foster strong industry connections and collaborations to solve pertinent challenges and drive technological advancements. Comprehensive drone training and awareness programs will be provided to ensure proficiency and understanding among people.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

- PhD with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

- MBA/MTech or equivalent degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience

- BTech or equivalent degree with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience.

- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects, centers, or activities at higher or middle-level managerial positions. This includes overseeing the development,

implementation, and successful completion of technical projects, preferably in aerospace, drone technology, or related fields.

- Significant experience in leading multidisciplinary technical teams with a strong track record of delivering complex technical solutions.

- Demonstrated expertise in drone technology, including design, development, testing, and deployment of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

- Experience in developing and implementing technology strategies, managing R&D projects, and fostering innovation in technical teams.

- Proven ability to manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.

- Deep understanding of drone technology, including hardware, software, sensors, control systems, and data processing.

- Ability to develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the mission's objectives.

- Strong project management skills with experience in planning, executing, and overseeing technical projects from inception to completion.

- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical challenges and implement effective solutions.

- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions.

- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and standards relevant to drone technology and aerospace sectors.

Job Profile:

- Provide strategic direction and leadership for all technical aspects of the drone mission, including the design, development, testing, and deployment of drone systems.

- Drive innovation in drone technology and applications, ensuring the project remains at the forefront of the industry by integrating the latest advancements and research findings.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the mission's objectives, including the selection of appropriate technologies, platforms, and systems for various drone applications.

- Lead and oversee all technical projects within the mission, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This includes managing project timelines, resources and deliverables.

- Lead research and development activities, including the establishment of a state-of-the- art Integrated Drone Testing Facility. Foster a collaborative environment for researchers and engineers to innovate and excel.

- Ensure the highest standards of project quality and performance by establishing rigorous testing, validation, and certification processes for drone systems and components.

- Work closely with the CEO, divisional and district centers, and various stakeholders to achieve project goals. This includes facilitating technical collaborations with academic institutions, industry partners, and government agencies.

- Mentor and develop technical talent within the team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and professional growth.

- Provide technical support for the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Maharashtra drone policy. Ensure compliance with national and international regulations and standards.

- Any other work assigned as per requirement.

Pay Details:

Consolidated Salary: Rs. 2,50,000/- pm including OCA.

General information:

The position is temporary for a period of 1 year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project. The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview. Candidates called for interview will be required to attend at his/ her own expenses.
