The Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), a new inter-departmental centre at IIT Bombay, seeks to leverage advanced engineering, mathematical, clinical, and pharmaceutical expertise to revolutionize digital healthcare in India and other emerging economies.
About KCDH:
The Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) is set up in 2021 with the vision to lead Digital Health Innovation by translating deep technological and clinical expertise into solutions that will improve the quality of healthcare, enhance access, and reduce costs. By fostering partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and government entities, KCDH aims to be at the forefront of healthcare transformation, enabling innovations that are affordable and scalable.
Since its inception, KCDH has seen tremendous growth, with over 500 students enrolling annually in its Digital Health courses. The Centre has successfully introduced a variety of cutting-edge educational programs, including Ph.D., M.S. by Research, the Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Program (IDDDP), and a Minor Program. In addition to its academic achievements, KCDH has forged over 30 strategic partnerships with hospitals and has actively contributed to numerous research projects and national initiatives, further solidifying its role as a key driver in the digital healthcare transformation.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Program Director to lead the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) at IIT Bombay. The Program Director will be responsible for driving KCDH's mission to drive strong collaboration with industry and government, build strong partnerships with hospitals and healthcare organisation, lead fund raising initiatives (across CSR, philanthropy and grants), drive internships and placements for KCDH students in Digital Health, and support research initiatives of KCDH. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in collaborating with industry and government stakeholders, supporting academic and research programs and driving business development / fund raising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategy
a. Work closely with Professor-in-charge (Head) in developing strategic vision for KCDH, aligning its activities with IIT Bombay's overall vision and goals.
b. Develop long-term plan for KCDH to meet its vision.
c. Work closely with the KCDH Sponsors as well as other funders and donors to ensure alignment to mission/vision of the Centre.
2. Partnership and Collaboration
a. Build and nurture strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, research organizations, and government bodies to advance the mission of KCDH.
b. Work closely with large hospitals, healthcare research organizations, pharma companies, and other Digital Health Partners (DHPs) to co-develop innovative healthcare solutions.
c. Support KCDH faculty in collaboration with international and national academic institutes to promote knowledge exchange and drive impact.
d. Promote the work of KCDH through media, conferences, workshops, and public talks.
3. Student Engagement and Placements
a. Develop overall plan to attract strong student to KCDH courses / initiatives.
b. Develop strong industry partnerships for creating strong pipeline for student internships and attractive high-compensation placements.
c. Engage with Alumni for mentorship, career opportunities, guest lectures etc.
4. Financial Management and Fundraising
a. Develop and manage the Centre's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with strategic priorities.
b. Identify and pursue funding opportunities from government agencies, industry partners (CSR), and philanthropic organizations.
c. Work closely with KCDH Faculty to drive consulting and research grants for KCDH
d. Work closely with KCDH and IITB administrative team to manage the Centre's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to academic and research activities.
Desired Profile:
Educational Requirements:
A master's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Healthcare Technology or a related field (Ph.D. or equivalent Research is a plus).
Experience:
a. Total 15 years' experience, of which a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in business development or general management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
b. Proven experience in managing large, interdisciplinary programs, with a track record of successful project execution and delivery.
Skills and Competencies:
a. Strong leadership and team management abilities
b. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
c. Strong program management skills and ability to work on external stakeholders
d. Experience in healthcare systems and healthcare technologies. (preferred).
e. Strategic thinker with the ability to execute complex projects and programs.
f. Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and policies related to healthcare and digital health.
g. Experience in academic program development and research commercialization.
