About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to lead our Retail vertical at the companys headquarters in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the retail business through NBFC branches, overseeing the overall P&L, and leading a team to achieve business objectives. This position requires a strong understanding of retail operations, team management, and financial services, with a preference for candidates from a microfinance background.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive retail business strategy to achieve growth targets and profitability.
• Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, expanding the retail footprint across regions.
• Lead the P&L responsibility for the retail vertical, ensuring financial targets are met.
Business Development & Growth:
• Drive the overall performance of retail business through NBFC branches, including sales, customer acquisition, and retention strategies.
• Enhance the retail product offerings and manage the development of new financial products tailored to retail customers.
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including branch managers, customers, and partners.
Team Management & Development:
• Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team across multiple locations, ensuring alignment
with organizational goals and delivering exceptional results.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and development of staff to build a capable team.
• Set clear performance expectations and ensure team members are accountable for achieving individual and team targets.
Operational Excellence:
• Ensure smooth operational functioning across all retail branches, optimizing resources, processes, and systems to deliver efficiency.
• Implement and monitor best practices in customer service, compliance, risk management, and operational standards.
• Monitor and analyze branch performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Financial Management & P&L:
• Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the retail business.
• Ensure strict cost control, timely collection of dues, and managing working capital efficiently.
• Continuously track and assess the profitability and sustainability of the retail business.
Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis:
• Keep abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
• Regularly analyze market conditions to refine retail strategies and stay ahead of competition.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
• 10-15 years of experience in retail banking or financial services, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in handling P&L responsibility, driving business growth, and leading cross-functional teams.
• Prior experience in microfinance or NBFC operations is highly preferred.
Skills & Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of retail financial products and services.
• Excellent team management and leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating teams.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving abilities.
• High-level communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Education:
• A Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification is preferred.
