Supervisor

Position Overview: The Supervisor for the Sampling Department in the textile industry is responsible for overseeing the creation of sample fabrics, garments, and prototypes for new product lines or customer orders. This role involves managing a team of sampling technicians, ensuring the timely production of high-quality samples, coordinating with other departments (such as design, production, and procurement), and maintaining strict quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Sampling Coordination:
• Supervise and coordinate the entire sampling process, from receiving design specifications to final sample production.
• Work closely with the design, product development, and sales teams to understand customer requirements, product specifications, and timelines.
• Ensure that samples are created accurately according to specifications, fabric types, colors, patterns, and customer preferences.
2. Quality Control:
• Ensure all samples meet the required quality standards, including fabric specifications, color matching, stitching, and finishing.
• Conduct regular inspections of samples to identify defects or discrepancies, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
• Work with the quality control team to develop and enforce quality assurance procedures for sample production.
3. Process Optimization:
• Continuously review and improve the sampling process to reduce lead times, enhance efficiency, and minimize waste.
• Implement best practices for sample production, ensuring resources are used efficiently and that the department meets customer demands on time.
• Ensure that all sampling work is done within the allocated budget and timeline.
4. Material & Resource Management:
• Ensure that the necessary raw materials, fabrics, trims, and components are available for sample production, coordinating with the procurement department as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels of sample materials, ensuring timely replenishment and preventing production delays.
• Work with suppliers to obtain fabric samples and other materials when necessary for new product development.
5. Collaboration & Communication:
• Act as the main point of contact between the sampling department and other departments, including design, production, and sales.
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding sample timelines, issues, and updates.
• Provide feedback to the design and development teams regarding the feasibility of sample production and any potential challenges.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of sample requests, production status, and delivery timelines.
• Prepare reports on sampling production, including output, quality issues, material usage, and department performance.
• Document and track any revisions or changes made to sample designs to ensure consistency in the final product.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, Apparel Production, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the textile industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role in a sampling or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of textile materials, garment construction, and the sampling process.
• Proven experience in quality control and ensuring the highest standards in sample production.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with other departments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and sampling/production software.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric testing.
• Familiarity with CAD software or design tools used in textile or apparel sampling.
• Understanding of sustainability practices in textile production, including eco-friendly fabrics and processes.
• Knowledge of industry trends and innovation in fabric and textile design.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position, typically Monday to Saturday with occasional overtime during peak periods.
• Work will be performed in a textile or garment production facility.
• The role may involve interacting with multiple departments, requiring regular meetings and communication.
