My client is a Global Asset management firm looking for a Head of Risk to manage the risk function who will provide strategic leadership and oversight in the implementation of risk management frameworks and practices. This role ensures alignment with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) policies and regulatory requirements at the group level. You will lead a team of risk professionals, foster a strong risk culture, and collaborate with business leaders across India and other global locations to enhance risk governance, oversight, and operational resilience.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
Strategy & Vision;
- Develop and implement a strategic vision to advance risk management.
- Provide enterprise-wide risk advisory to support business strategies and decision-making.
- Establish risk assessment, monitoring, and reporting standards for business units and service centers.
Consulting & Risk Oversight:
- Provide expert analysis and interpretation of risks to first-line business units.
- Oversee risk assessments, control frameworks, and process improvements.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate uncertainties and strengthen risk mitigation efforts.
- Conduct independent monitoring and assessment of key risks and controls.
Reporting & Communication:
- Develop and present risk metrics and reports for senior leadership and governance forums.
- Maintain open communication with SCBU (Service Center Business Unit) CRO, Enterprise Risk Management leadership, and senior business leaders.
- Provide data-driven insights to influence risk management improvements.
Programs & Capabilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of risk professionals to drive enterprise risk management maturity.
- Foster a risk-aware culture by promoting accountability across all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with compliance, internal audit, and information security teams to enhance risk response and governance.
Governance & Oversight:
- Ensure adherence to the Enterprise Risk Management framework.
- Develop and maintain processes to identify, assess, and mitigate key risks.
- Lead the Risk Council and other governance forums for risk issue escalation and resolution.
To be eligible for this role you will require:
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, legal audit, or related fields.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and risk functions.
- Technical & Functional Expertise
- Strong knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, regulatory compliance, and financial services industry standards.
- Experience in second-line risk management, including risk assessments, key risk indicators (KRIs), control reviews, and incident tracking.
- Hands-on experience with risk management tools and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of financial service products, back-office operations, and technology risks.
- Prior experience in risk governance, control frameworks, and issue resolution strategies.
- Leadership & Soft Skills
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for executive-level reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to drive enterprise-wide risk culture and influence business leaders.
- Experience in leading risk governance routines, including councils, committees, and forums.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-performance environment.
