Assistant Manager - General Ledger (GL) Finance
Bengaluru, Full Time
Roles and Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager - GL is responsible for overseeing and managing the general ledger accounting processes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role involves reconciliations, month-end and year-end closings, GL review, preparation of financial statements, financial reporting, MIS and variance analysis, Forecast Budgeting and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
  1. General Ledger Management:
  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, standards (GAAP/IFRS), and internal controls.
  • Review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for accuracy and compliance.
  1. Month-End Year-End Closing:
  • month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and schedules for audits.
  1. Financial Reporting Analysis:
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, PL accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze variances and trends in financial data and provide insights.
  1. Reconciliations Controls:
  • Review and approve general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external regulations.
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting processes and procedures.
  1. Audit Compliance:
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and other financial laws.
  • Work closely with auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  • Collaborate with other finance functions, such as accounts payable, receivables, and tax teams.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IGAAP, INDAS, and local financial regulations.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
