Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Production Assistant to join our Vaayu team. This role is perfect for someone with a comprehensive understanding of the textile production process, particularly in sustainable fashion. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing all stages of production, ensuring that our collections are manufactured to the highest standards while maintaining our commitment to sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Coordination
   
• Oversee the end-to-end production process for Vaayu collections from sampling to final delivery.
• Coordinate with the in-house team and external vendors to ensure that designs are executed as per specifications.
• Monitor production timelines and ensure timely delivery of finished goods.
• Collaborate with design and merchandising teams to align the production process with creative goals and timelines.
2. Material and Fabric Management
   
• Ensure sourcing of high-quality fabrics and materials in line with the brand's sustainability values.
• Maintain accurate records of fabric and material inventory.
• Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of materials.
• Assist in fabric and color matching to meet design specifications.
3. Quality Control & Testing
   
• Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet the standards of craftsmanship and finish that are synonymous with Vaayu’s brand.
• Test and review samples for fabric quality, fit, and construction, ensuring alignment with the final design specifications.
• Troubleshoot any issues that arise in the production process, ensuring swift resolution to prevent delays.
4. Vendor and Supplier Liaison
   
• Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers, ensuring that production meets the required standards.
• Assist in negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers and vendors while ensuring adherence to sustainability practices.
• Coordinate with external artisans and suppliers for the production of sustainable, handcrafted elements of the garments.
5. Documentation and Reporting
   
• Maintain accurate records of production orders, timelines, cost sheets, and fabric inventories.
• Support the team in keeping detailed documentation for each garment produced.
• Assist in the preparation of production-related reports and tracking of key performance metrics.
6. Sustainability Focus
   
• Support the brand's sustainable ethos by ensuring eco-friendly practices throughout the production process.
• Keep abreast of the latest innovations in sustainable fabrics, technologies, and production methods.
• Help in identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve sustainability across production processes.
7. Communication & Team Support
   
• Liaise with the design, merchandising, and retail teams to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
• Provide necessary support to other team members as required, including training new hires or junior associates on production processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in production or manufacturing within the textile or fashion industry, preferably in sustainable or luxury fashion.
• Strong understanding of the entire production cycle, including sampling, fabric sourcing, and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and fabric testing methods.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Knowledge of sustainable production methods and eco-friendly materials.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of industry-standard production management tools and software is a plus.
