Win 11 Migration Consultant (5-7 yrs)

About the Job :

This role focuses on providing expert-level technical support and ensuring a smooth transition during and after the organization's Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving complex issues, managing application certification, and optimizing the Windows 11 environment. This includes working with various teams to streamline processes and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.

Responsibilities :

1. Windows 11 Migration & Support (2nd/3rd Level) :

- Provide dedicated 2nd/3rd level support for unexpected issues arising from the Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex OS, application, and hardware compatibility issues.

- Document all incidents, resolutions, and root cause analysis in the ticketing system.

Application Certification :

- Track and monitor Windows 11 application certification progress.

- Identify and resolve certification roadblocks, collaborating with application owners as needed.

- Perform testing and validation of applications on the Windows 11 platform.

- Ensure applications meet organizational security and performance standards.

Configuration Management :

- Modify and manage AIR flags, ForwardPath configurations, and version identifiers.

- Implement and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to ensure consistent and secure Windows 11 configurations.

2. Windows OS Build & Deployment :

- Build, capture, and maintain Windows OS images (Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11) according to organizational policies and requirements.

- Customize and optimize Windows images for performance, security, and compatibility.

- Create and deploy application packages using SCCM / MECM 2012.

- Manage application deployments, updates, and removals.

- Troubleshoot application deployment issues and ensure successful installations.

Operating System Deployment (OSD) :

- Utilize SCCM / MECM 2012 for automated operating system deployment.

- Design and implement OSD task sequences for efficient and consistent deployments.

3. Infrastructure Management :

- Manage AD objects, users, groups, and permissions.

- Troubleshoot AD-related issues.

- Design, implement, and manage GPOs to enforce security policies and configurations.

- Manage WSUS for patch management and software updates.

- Troubleshoot and manage DNS and DHCP services.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Windows OS administration and support.

- Extensive experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11 deployment and troubleshooting.

- Proven experience with SCCM / MECM 2012 for application packaging, deployment, and OS deployment.

- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, WSUS, DNS, and DHCP.

- Experience with Windows image creation and customization.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Experience with Dashworks is a plus.

- Experience with AIR configuration and ForwardPath management is a plus.

- Experience with VDI environment is a plus.
