JOB DESCRIPTION OF Engineer - Design and Automation

Overall Purpose of the Role:

• Automation engineering, Design of mechanical engineering components, design and development of automated equipment
• Work in a team environment as a key resource for mechanical design and development.
• Understand customer requirements and propose solutions keeping functionality, optimization in view
• Responsibilities will include cross-functional interaction to qualify new design,
• Achieve the customer specifications and requirements.
• Offer technical support. Work on multiple phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire
• Projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion.

Key Responsibilities and skills

• Experience in automation, electromechanical / mechatronics and related concepts.
• Understand customer requirement, propose feasible ideas and concepts.
• Well versed with creation, reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and standards particularly precision components, fabricated structures.
• Wide knowledge of automation products.
• Validation of engineering components and concepts through engineering calculations.
• Selection of commercial items like Bearings, motor, gear box, Servomotor, sensors, conveyors etc..
• Awareness about best machining process, heat treatment process, engineering materials, surface treatment, EDM/EBM mechatronics etc.
• Knowledge about material handling equipment,
• Able to understand and apply limits fits and tolerances, GD & T, surface finish.
• Good knowledge of DFx (DFM,DFS,DFA…) concepts.
• Knowledge of robotics, robot selection, application is an added advantage.
• Must - CAD tools experience Solid works, AutoCAD
• Good to have - PLM/PDM experience – Team Center/ Solid Works PDM

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical engineering or Equivalent with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
