Role & responsibilities

1. Library Management:
• Plan, organize, and oversee library operations, including acquisition, cataloguing, and circulation of resources.
• Develop and implement library policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency.
2. Resource Development:
• Identify and acquire new resources, including books, journals, e-books, and digital content, to meet the evolving needs of students and faculty.
• Establish and maintain relationships with publishers and vendors for procurement of resources.
3. Research and Academic Support:
• Assist students and faculty in conducting research by providing access to relevant resources and tools.
• Conduct orientation programs and workshops on library resources, research tools, and citation management.
4. Technology Integration:
• Manage and update library management software and digital databases.
• Explore and implement innovative technologies to enhance the librarys digital offerings.
5. Team Leadership:
• Supervise and mentor library staff to ensure smooth functioning of library operations.
• Conduct regular training sessions for staff on library systems and customer service.
6. Budget and Reporting:
• Prepare and manage the librarys budget, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
• Generate and present regular reports on library usage, resource acquisition, and future needs.

Preferred candidate profile

The Librarian will be responsible for managing the librarys operations, resources, and staff to support the academic and research needs of students and faculty. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Library Science or a related field, have over 10 years of experience in library management, and possess excellent organizational and technological skills.

• Educational Qualification:
• PhD in Library Science Information Science, or MA/M. Phil related field is mandatory.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in library management, preferably in an academic or research institution.
• Skills Required:
• Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital resource management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in research tools, database management, and citation tools.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in library sciences and digital libraries.
