SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER - BUILDING WORKS
Job Description
Experience Required: Minimum 10+ Years in High-Rise Building Works and Infrastructure Projects with proven track record of delivering large-scale projects within budget, quality, and timeline constraints.
Role Summary
The Senior Construction Manager with an experience required of minimum 10+ Years in High-Rise Building Works and Infrastructure Projects, is responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, coordination, and execution of high-rise building and infrastructure projects from an office-based perspective. This role involves monitoring project progress, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and timelines, and providing strategic guidance to site teams. The position also requires collaboration with design, procurement, and project management teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Coordination:
- Develop and oversee detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones for high-rise building and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and site teams to ensure all project requirements are met.
- Review and approve work programs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
2. Project Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and monitor the progress of construction activities through regular updates from site teams with weekly site visits and inspections
- Identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines.
- Prepare and present detailed project status reports, including progress, budgets, and risks, to senior management and stakeholders.
3. Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Collaborate with the cost control team to manage budgets, approve variations, and control project expenses.
- Ensure proper cost monitoring and reconciliation, minimizing cost overruns.
- Evaluate and approve contractor and subcontractor bills in coordination with the billing team.
4. Quality & Safety Assurance:
- Ensure that construction activities meet quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures in coordination with site safety teams.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the quality and safety of work performed at sites.
5. Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Provide strategic direction and support to site managers, engineers, and project teams.
- Act as a liaison between the client, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Resolve technical and operational issues by coordinating with the design and execution teams.
6. Documentation & Compliance:
- Oversee documentation processes, including project drawings, approvals, and permits.
- Ensure adherence to all contractual obligations, government regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of project documentation for audits and future references.
7. Design Review & Execution Strategy:
- Review and approve architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for execution feasibility.
- Provide inputs for value engineering and design optimization to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Ensure proper integration of design changes into the construction schedule and execution plan.
8. Stakeholder Management:
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to address concerns and ensure smooth execution.
- Manage client expectations and ensure timely resolution of issues and queries.
- Represent the organization in high-level meetings with stakeholders.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Construction Knowledge: Strong experience in managing high-rise building and infrastructure projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Planning Tools: Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Design Understanding: Ability to read, review, and interpret complex architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Thorough knowledge of local construction codes, bylaws, and safety regulations.
- Leadership and team management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent English speaking skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with Proactive decision-making and strategic thinking.
- Highly proficient in MS Office Word/Excel/Power point
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A Masters Degree in Construction Management or equivalent is an advantage.
