Job Description: Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) - Retail
Location: Gurgaon, India
Reporting To: CEO/Managing Director
Position Overview:
The CHRO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the company's human capital strategy in alignment with its business objectives. The role requires a visionary HR leader with a proven track record in driving large-scale change management, fostering a high-performance culture, and attracting, developing, and retaining top talent in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company's business goals and growth plans.
- Partner with the executive team to drive organizational transformation, ensuring the HR function supports business scalability and agility.
Talent Acquisition & Management:
- Lead the talent acquisition strategy to attract top-tier talent across all levels.
- Implement robust talent management and succession planning frameworks to ensure a strong leadership pipeline.
Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Learning & Development:
- Oversee the design and execution of learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain talent.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and industry standards.
HR Operations & Technology:
- Drive process efficiency through the implementation of HR technologies and tools.
- Ensure the HR function is data-driven, leveraging analytics to inform decision-making.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Promote ethical behaviour and integrity across the organization.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI):
Champion DEI initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Develop and implement programs to promote workplace equity and belonging.
- Extensive Retail Operations HR Experience:-
- Proven expertise in managing HR functions across large retail operations, including store-level HR management, regional HR leadership, and frontline workforce engagement.
- Experience in handling high-volume recruitment for retail staff, ensuring seamless onboarding and integration within a dynamic retail environment.
- In-depth understanding of the unique challenges of retail HR, such as high attrition rates, shift scheduling, compliance with labour laws, and workforce productivity management.
- Ability to implement HR policies and programs that are tailored to retail operations, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer service standards.
- Hands-on experience in managing performance and incentive programs for retail staff, driving motivation and enhancing customer experience.
- Experience in setting up HR structures and policies to support rapid store expansion, including talent deployment strategies for new locations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR role within the retail sector.
- Proven track record of leading HR functions in large, multi-location organizations.-
- Deep understanding of labour laws, HR best practices, and industry trends.
- Experience in change management, leadership development, and organizational design.
