College Name: Maharana Pratap engineering college

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Written test was completely based on technical ability. It consisted of questions from Ferrous Extractive Metallurgy, Physical Metallurgy and Mechanical Metallurgy majorly.Difficulty level was medium and didn't pose any kind of problem as such. Cutoff was around 50%.
Tips: I talked to some seniors placed and working at JSW. It was if great help. One must be technically strong while preparing for any core company. The basic concepts and operational facts should be crystal clear.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were 12 people participating in it.
Few points which I spoke and were worth sharing are:-
1.We cannot chose directly any one. Being engineers we can think of Optimization.
2.Industries becoming environment friendly to keep control and returning the favour they are taking back from Mother earth.
3. Just thinking good is not necessary. You can't wear green slippers and imagine that the whole world will turn green. Actions speak louder and hence are necessary.
Tips: It us of very high possibility that your GD will turn into a fish market. All you have to do is stay calm, raise your voice in a polite manner to make everyone silent and then put forward your point.
Speaking the point won't do good unless the judge listens to it. Speak for the judge.
Utilize the points the company speaks about itself in their PPT. It adds to your caliber.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It was a group interview where 3 students were interviewed at the same time. They wanted to check the temperament that he may have to face in the job.
Questions were on basic intrduction, family background and moved towards industrial projects and knowledge on steel making.
They cross questioned me regarding my weight and my father being a SAIL employee. My answers were to provide faith in them that I will definitely work for them.
Tips: Again, patience is the key. Stay calm because seeing two other competitors for the same job may worry you.
Be thorough in your industrial projects and subjects related to it.
Justify yourself properly about whatever you speak. Rather, speak only those things which you know you can justify.
Be confident in your answers.
Avoid using complicated terms.

General Tips: It won't happen every time that the selection process goes the way you want to take it to. You may not get selected but keep working harder and harder until you achieve what you want. Don't stop believing in yourself.
Skill Tips: Be updated with the current affairs. Reading regular newspapers will definitely help.
Do attend GDs regularly. Practice will make you better every time.
Make a list of basic HR questions which can be asked and prepare them accordingly. It will definitely help.
May try SWOT analysis. It will help you to know yourself better.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion

Tips: save your points for the best time.try to say those points which have not been said during the gd

College Name: NIT JALANDHAR

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The paper was average and not much tough. There were some basic difficult qstns but after giving a thought instead of panicking, trust your instincts and have belief in urself. Attempt the section you are confident abt and easy instead of going for the tough ones because time is a constraint and every qstn whether easy or tough carries equal weightage.
Tips: Since it's a steel company, so focus on production, fluid mechanics, material science, thermodynamics.prepare any three subjects thoroughly.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 50

General Tips: improvise ur communication skills, go through the technical portion thoroughly
Skill Tips: Be confident and in order to be so, be well prepared.
Skills: Technical skills, Time management skills
College Name: NIT SRINAGAR
Motivation: jsw is one of the leading steel production companies in india and to be chosen to work with it is itself a motivation though you do get rewarded for handsome salary.
Funny Moments: the food of haryana which upset my stomach and the next day early in the morning i had to take the test for jsw.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was a one hour test comprising of around 65 questions based on Iron making, steel making and physical metallurgy.
Tips: Just stick to the basics and you will make it through. Another tip is that JSW hardly changes their questions, so arrange last year's paper if you can :)
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 65

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: I took my chance to speak, spoke clearly and to the point. My communication skills helped me to get through.
Tips: Prepare strategy before the GD regarding who will speak first and for how long one must speak. This way everyone will get an opportunity to speak and maximum number of your partners will get through. Don't make it a fish market and remember to stick to the topic asked.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I was mostly asked questions on Iron making and steel making and little bits of Physical and Mechanical metallurgy.
Tips: The basics should be clear, and do cram your training report well in advance. If you did training from JSW, that adds to your advantage factor.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR will mostly ask for introduction, then questions like why JSW, what JSW does etc.
Tips: Just be clam and focused and remember to not to break eye contact. Also, do not maintain eye contact so hard that you give HR the shivers :)

Skill Tips: Those with a balanced mixture of technical knowledge and communication skills will make through the final selects of JSW Steel.
Skills: Technical, Communication
College Name: National Institute of Technology, Srinagar
Motivation: JSW is the leading manufacturer of steel products in India. It is one of the fastest growing steel company, so growth will be significant, and it offers a variety of perks to it's employees as well.
Funny Moments: One of the students who went for the interview got so much nervous that upon being asked about what JSW does, he told the HR that JSW is a market leader in the aluminium industry. He just didn't stop there, he continued naming tonnes of aluminium product that it makes :P

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Average level of difficulty.
Tips: Study mechanical and physical metallurgy as well as iron and steel making properly.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 50

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were 12 candidates in my GD group including me so you need to speak enough over the topic and you need to show some good GD atticates which will work in your favour.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: My PI consisted many ups and downs I.e. Silence of half an hour and then continuous speaking of about 20 min. As it was a kind of group interview but the questions were asked to individual and questions were not passed to the other candidate I.e. It was 3(HR) on 1 interview but two other candidates were also listening your interview.
Tips: My interview was based only on my industrial project and nothing else. Just know your project very well do it very seriously so that you are answerable to each and every question that will be bombarded over you!!!
And discover your passion till fourth year and accordingly choose the company. Do not experiment with your life and if confused talk to your seniors.

General Tips: The most important thing which matters is how passionate and how eager you are to work with them. Also most important is positive attitude towards every problem.
Skill Tips: If you ask any senior about cpi and if he says that it doesn't matter then he is definitely misguiding you!!!! Weightage of cpi and your technical is equal. If he says make your technical sound and you will be selected then it happens very rarely at least in our college. They want to see your performance in your academic session. They want to see how consistant you will be in their company and how serious you are towards your work and also towards your career. Less cpi even if you are constant through out, tells them that you will not grow after some point of time so they want growing and consistently growing performance which help them in their company. And backlog history matters more then your cpi because companies are nowadays asking for no backlog history so if you are not eligible for company then to whom you will show your pointers???
Skills: CGPA, Eagerness to work, Positive attitude
