Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I believe they were looking for a lot of enthusiasm, strong desire to join their company and of course an aptitude for finance
Tips: I believe the key is to stay confident because that is what the banks look for. Any signs of panic might kill your chances. There is no right or wrong answer when asked for your view on some issue or market. What they just expect is that you should be able to give reasons for whatever your view is.

Skill Tips: I guess prior knowledge of financial derivatives is a must. It might get a bit difficult otherwise, given the fact that people start talking in terms of delta, gamma and vega right from day 1

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: HR Interview
Experience: During this round, I spent about an hour at the office of the company. I was introduced with 2 other people besides the main interviewer. Each person gave me a glimpse of what their day is like, what is their role in the company, what is their approach to work. Besides, they also shared their own story about how they got where they are.
Tips: Ask as many questions as you can and want to. This is the chance for you to know the company, what to expect from the job, what a typical day at work would like for you, etc. Even the company gets a chance to know you better. This is the place where you get a chance to decide if the job is a right fit for you or not. If the job description excites you and you can see yourself doing it in the future, then you know you'll like working there.

Round: Test
Experience: A series of questions popped up one after the other relating to a typical day at work. The test was based on different small decisions a person had to make when at work. For e.g., prioritizing a few important matters at hand. Moreover, it also had questions about how would you handle this situation with a client, etc.
Tips: Before taking this tryout, try and find someone in the same role, be it with someone from another company. Ask them questions about how do they manage different situations, what is expected of them from the company when a certain situation arises, what kind of training do they get before starting the job, etc.

Why are women still asked such personal questions in interview?
I recently went for an interview… and honestly, m still trying to process what just happened. Instead of being asked about my skills, experience, or how I could add value to the company… the questions took a totally unexpected turn. The interviewer started asking things like When are you getting married? Are you engaged? And m sure, if I had said I was married, the next question would’ve been How long have you been married? What does my personal life have to do with the job m applying for? This is where I felt the gender discrimination hit hard. These types of questions are so casually thrown at women during interviews but are they ever asked to men? No one asks male candidates if they’re planning a wedding or how old their kids are. So why is it okay to ask women? Can we please stop normalising this kind of behaviour in interviews? Our careers shouldn’t be judged by our relationship status. Period.
