Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The Aptitude and Technical sections contain 25 questions each. There were three types of tests - Mechanical, ECE and Software. I wrote the mechanical test. The technical section contained questions from courses in aerospace, mechanical and few from material sciences. I couldn't solve all the questions. Probably solved around 60% of the paper perfectly and guessed the remaining.
Tips: There won't be enough time to finish the paper, so we must solve fast. Also, there isn't any negative marking. So, take advantage.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 50

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The interview went smoothly. I was able to answer most of the questions. If I didn't know the answer to a question, I said I didn't know. The interviewer was kind enough to clear my doubts. The questions asked were of the basics in gas dynamics.
Tips: Be confident in whatever you say. Say that you don't know the answer directly if that's the case. Expect questions from the BASICS of the core courses you have taken. It helps if you have done a good project or internship elsewhere. Also make sure that you convey your area of interest/s very clearly.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The interview went well. I was fairly confident in answering the questions.
Tips: Show confidence, speak freely and make sure you smile. We all know the kind of questions that would be asked in a HR interview. So prepare yourself beforehand, but make sure it doesn't sound like you're reciting something you have mugged. It should be like a general conversation.

General Tips: Be honest. Don't make up things. If the interviewer(HR in particular) thinks you are bluffing about your opinion on a certain topic, make sure that you have facts backing up your opinion. Working on a decent core project/internship beforehand would be very helpful. Apply only if you are deeply motivated to work for a core company, the interviewers would find out anyway if your interest lies elsewhere. See that you have material relevant to the internship profiles offered by the company. And always be confident in body language and conversation.
