Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: In this particular round we were given a topic and groups of five each were made. My topic was Sex before marriage- good or bad. Our group had 3 boys and 2 girls and while the girls chose to stand against the motion, the boys stood for the motion. I put forth my views loud and clear but at the same time was not speaking out of turn. A way to let your moderator know that you would like to talk is by either raising your hand or making the T sign. There were 430 people in this round and only 200 made it to the next.
Tips: Since it was a very personal topic and everyone has their own viewpoint, what the moderators look for is not how politically correct you are. Instead they judge your communication skills and how forthcoming you are. Dont be silent. Speak whenever you feel the need to. Be ready to defend your view as many people will counter question you. It is a very bad idea to scream or shout. This one candidate kept cutting everyone short including the moderator. She was disqualified after 5 warnings.

Round: Individual Activity
Experience: After the first round I got a text from the client relation manager saying I have been selected for the second round. The interviewer gave me his watch and asked me to sell it to him for Rs. 4000. I started off with how it was a branded watch and explained its technical features. Again you do have to be politically correct. You can always make things up about the product considering you dont know it enough. After he was convinced he said he dint have money. Or that he had less money so I should give him some discount. To tackle with problems like these you first need to convince them even more about your product and the find them a feasible solution. This round was 15 mins long and although convinced he dint seem very happy.
Tips: Try your level best. They want to see you trying. They want to see the never say die spirit in you. Convince them or confuse them. Thats what I did. They also want to see how you handle the questions that are thrown your way. Be spot on. Dont take too long to think but do think of a sensible reply before you answer.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: This round was a normal HR interview round. He first asked me to talk about myself and just keep talking for 30 minutes. Mention things both good and bad while doing so. Its a very foolish step to list down your qualifications and marks. They care about your personality. Luckily I mentioned how Harvey Specter from Suites is my inspiration. This gentleman was also a big fan so for the rest of the time we ended up bonding instead on our love for the show. When he asked me why I wanted to join AIESEC I told him how ,to put it in perspective, it would help in the achievement of my long term goal which is to become an IAS officer and help people.
Tips: Some of these questions such as talk about yourself and why would you like to join AIESEC were expected so i had prepared for them. I did bluff a little in the qualities bit but not to a point where it might look like a glaring lie. Do not say something that you are not prepared to answer a follow up question on.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: He started off with tell me about yourself and then just said single words. So I threw all the possible adjectives that I could think of in my context. For the flaw question , I was cheeky enough to say bad handwriting and how it has led to lesser marks throughout school and college life.
Tips: Please be aware of the full form of the organisation and its agenda. I figured it out when I was waiting for this Interview. Only 30 candidates were selected out of 200. Make sure you bring out your USP so that they remember you.Mine was sense of humor but in the right amount. Prepare in advance by asking your seniors and listening to their experiences. your posture is very important. Dont try to act over smart by saying words of which you dont know the meaning.
