Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: CV should focus on the skill set previously mentioned. Concise and to the point sentences. Line out projects and internships well. Balance between academia and extra curriculars. Attend the CV making workshop of Opera and work on it accordingly.
Tips: Don’t put things totally irrelevant to the job profile. Don’t write long sentences. Know your CV well for further stages.Anything related to your CV should be at the tip of your tongue.

Round: Test
Experience: Don’t spend a lot of time on one question in quant section. There’s a cut-off in Quant and your focus should be on clearing it. If you clear the cut-off, the puzzle section will be evaluated, where solving at least 2 is generally good enough. Puzzles are hard, and need a lot of prior practice.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Direct selections take place at the end of all interviews after a mutual discussion between all the panels. Know your CV thoroughly. Prepare for some HR questions as well. Puzzle solving and guesstimates are asked, so prepare them well. When you are asked a puzzle, do not sit quietly but think aloud. The interviewers help you structure your thoughts. Most of the times, just knowing your approach is enough for them
Tips: Evaluate the nature of your interviewer for the first 5 minutes and if possible treat the interview like a discussion. They just want to know more about you so tell it to them. Most of them are very friendly, and you will feel at ease. Be confident. Sound excited while talking about your projects/internships. It gives them confidence in you. Be very very thorough with your CV. Nothing gives a bad impression like not knowing about yourself. Ask questions if you have them at the end of the interview.

General Tips: 1: Be Confident.
2: Keep Smiling.
3: Do not be Panic.
4: Remember they are here to hire you but not reject you.
5: Do not loose hope.
6: Believe at yourself.
7: Start preparing early.
8: Do demo interviews with your friend.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Do not try to copy others’ answers in either round. It happened in IIT Kanpur, and, as a result, Rio Tinto did not recruit anyone at all.

Round: Group Activity
Experience: They provide a dynamic case study to a group of candidates and they are supposed to discuss the same to reach to a consensus.
Tips: Whatever happens, do NOT lose your cool. You’ll be chucked straight out. If arguing, be reasonable but assertive, and support with facts. If you see someone is quiet, ask them politely to speak up. It will be noted and appreciated. Remember, the topic can be pretty daunting, but it will be daunting for all. Don’t let this take away your confidence.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Wide array of HR questions are asked. (HR question details are available on DC++). Unlike some companies, RT does not take stress interviews. It will be friendly, but professional.
Tips: The importance of clarity in English cannot be overstated. Do not lie. Lying leads to hesitation, which leads to discomfort, which leads to losing of cool, which drastically increases your chances of screwing up.

General Tips: Once again, whatever you do, do not bluff. They are professionals, and have dealt with students across the globe. Moreover, in the scope of things, your impression and knowledge would matter way more than your resume. If you lie, not only will you be definitely caught and humiliated, but you would mess up the insti name and prospects of future grads.

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: 40 people were short-listed on the basis of this test. Objective type test. Main topics were C coding, operating systems, data structures, quantitative skills and networking. They’ll ask you about your strength and then ask you questions based on that. Again knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, algorithms and data structures will be handy in the 1st round . They asked me questions on the working of a network from the user to switch to router, about ARP and MAC address tables, about IP addresses and subnets. Then there was a question on binary search trees and a few questions on operating systems as well. In the 2nd round, they asked me a question on memory management. Gave me 5 mins to come up with an answer. Knowledge of data structures and Operating Systems is needed and maybe a bit of algorithms.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: 30 min interview. I had 2 techincal interviews; the second was of 5 mins.
Tips: Don’t give up on a question easily. Keep trying. Interviewers judge you on your thought process and if you give up easily then it causes a negative impact.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: This round is held if they want to take you in. You will be asked if you have any problem in relocating. They discuss the job profile and ask if you would prefer working alone or in a team.

General Tips: OS, CCN and data Structures should be read thoroughly not just for this company..most of the software/IT oriented companies ask questions pertaining to these topics.
Skill Tips: Selection is based purely on the interview. There is a written test which you have to clear first though. Absolutely no emphasis on cgpa. It’ll neither be an advantage nor a disadvantage. They’ll take you if you perform well in the interview. Knowledge of C/C++ is sufficient. My projects were related to computer networks so that was an advantage but they dont decide on basis of project. They’ll ask a few questions about the projects as all companies do.

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Two papers: one core paper and the other on quantitative skills. EE had a different paper than civil/aero and meta. I don't remember questions clearly, but for core paper(EE) you should revise your 3rd year control systems notes. That should be enough. Quants has simple mathematical problems but computationally com- plex. Plus, you are not allowed to use calculator so be prepared for it.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Two interviewers, and they will mainly ask about your projects(BTP and MTP). Clearly explain your work to them. They will just ask questions if they have any doubts about your work. No funda asked in intervew. You can have HR interview before technical or vice versa. If you clear one, you will be called for the other.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Usual stuff. They didn’t ask whether or not I want to go for a PhD since I have a high CGPA (this was asked in many companies in my case at least and others too with high CGPA).

Skill Tips: Control Systems background mainly, and projects related to Simulation/embedded systems None really, maybe knowledge of the language French would be helpful as it is a French company and this skill would definitely be a heads up in the HR interview MATLAB and SIMULINK, quant ability not that much required.Simple mathematical calculations for the quant test. The other paper requires extensive knowledge on control systems. Projects ,if related to controls (application based and not theoretical) or embedded systems, are definitely helpful.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Most probably, there is no shortlisting on the basis of CV. Everybody can appear for next round. However, many questions based on CV are asked in later phases. Emphasis on technical skills and details of projects completed. For the EE/IE/EC/MA technical test: NOT MCQ type. Mostly control system based elementary questions. Besides this there were some puzzles, some MATLAB based problems and 2 programming questions. There were also some questions on the fundamentals of aerodynamics. Mental ability test was a set of around 40 short numericals (MCQ type).

Round: Test
Experience: Two written tests: First, a technical test (separate for different departments) followed by a common mental ability test. Fundamental knowledge of control systems is required. Most probably not many in the group could solve the ‘’aero’’ questions. So, maybe being able to solve those would have been a plus.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Based on performance in written test, shortlisted students are called for technical interviews. Asked in detail about all projects done, and told about job profile. Also asked about interest in the aviation industry.
Tips: Try to bring out your contribution to the projects you have taken part in.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Selected students were sent for the HR interview. Most students who made it to this round were offered a job.
Tips: Be calm and confident. It was quite like a really long chat about my background and other non-academic aspects of my CV. Be cool. Don’t be taken aback or over-apologetic if you don’’t know something, or if you make a mistake.

Skill Tips: Not important to have a high CG, but technical knowledge should be good, both for written test and interview. A bit of involvement in extra-curricular activities helps. Gives things to talk about in the HR interview! Any technical skill is a bonus. As for programming, C, C++, MATLAB knowledge is sufficient, but it is good to have additional knowledge. Projects and internships are very important from the point of view of Airbus. Technical interview is based solely on questions about projects and internships.
