FNU provides a good work life balance. The place is good, scenic and the weather is perfect. Team mates are people who are kind and very patient in their dealings with others. However, one may need a little bit of cajoling to get the work done and sometimes it may be frustrating especially when it's your own responsibility for your organisation to meet the deadlines.

The job security aspects are very poor. You are on a contract for 3 years and the process of renewal need to start atleast one year before the contract expires. Every renewal of contract goes through the same process of international advertisements, interviews etc. So you aren't sure whether you would continue in FNU for the next term. Career growth has the same story. Though FNU likes to induct expats and though the HR policy doesn't discriminate between locals and expats, there is an unwritten policy wherein expats can face discrimination especially when it comes to promotion, grant of study leave, etc. Facilities are either in poor state or non-existent , hence research, training etc can suffer. To bring changes one really need to struggle with higher management people and they won't like anyone pushing them too hard....Read More

Work is not very exciting. For academics the stress is more on pass rate rather on educational quality. It's not surprising therefore to find lecturers resorting to pass the students through in-appropriate means just to make the pass rate attractive.
