Job security: Dell recently layed off more than 12000 employees and may cut down more head count so it's job security is a major issue. Salary: Salary is little below market standards. Appraisal/promotion : Once you reach to principal engineer position, promotion seems like an alien concept because 1 in around 30-40 principal engineer gets promoted to Sr principal level that too after ATLEAST after 10-12 years working as a principal engineer. Skill development/Learning : NO Scope whatsoever for new learning. Most of people who left there jobs recently were due to lack of opportunities to learn new skills and were bored/tired of working on the same things for years.
