Young HR Being a Pain
I work for a growing organization that never had an HR department until recently. They’ve hired an HR professional who has implemented an HRMS and introduced rules around timings, WFH, leaves, and more.
I’ve been working for 10 years, and no one has ever questioned the number of leaves or work from home days I take. However, this new HR person constantly pings me, asking about my leaves, WFH days, and why I’m not strictly following the rules.
As a senior team member, my priority has always been delivering on work, even working late evenings or weekends. Unfortunately, this young HR person doesn’t seem to grasp that.
How should I handle this situation?

I don't see the problem here. You feel like you're entitled to do your own will because you're a senior. But she also has a sheet to fill, make reports and submit it to the upper management. She's doing her job not being toxic.

Life is too short to argue. Just say, "baap ko mat sikha" and move on.

I’ve been in a similar situation! When HR first introduced rules like tracking WFH and leaves, it felt frustrating as a senior member who prioritizes results over clocking hours. At first, I resisted, but eventually, I had a calm conversation with HR to explain my work ethic and responsibilities.
To my surprise, they were open to feedback. We found a middle ground where I reported my leaves weekly in a simple format, and they stopped micromanaging me. My advice: Communicate openly with HR......they might just need clarity on your role to adjust their approach.

I think you are expecting too much from the company. May be you are genuinely facing and seeing this as a problem but your post is very funny according to me :D
For the last 10 years may be you were living in a delusion that being a corporate HR is a bliss, But your current company is showing the reality :D. Not sure how will you take this approach but i think its completly fine if your senior or upper management want to check on you and your productivity, You mentioned you are new to this company, You should give it some time for them to trust you and your working style.

Talk to your manager about why things are like this. HR starts nitpicking only when they're asked to do so by upper management, it's not like they take pleasure in doing it..

This is honestly so frustrating. If there’s no issue with work ethic or productivity, why implement unnecessary rules that only serve to annoy employees and push them to rebel or break policies out of sheer frustration?
