Day to Day Office

Hey everyone! I have been working as a TL for [Genpact](genpact) for the past 2.5 years. I'm still at the same CTC they hired me with, and every time I bring up the topic of increasing my compensation, my manager just tells me they are looking into it and that it's due to budget issues. The excuses don't stop. It's not like other people who joined with me aren't promoted.

Can someone suggest how I should deal with this situation? Should I look for another job, or should I continue to fight here for the compensation I deserve?🤔

Why am I starting to feel like an underpaid and unappreciated employee?

Every office has one unspoken conflict…

No, not deadlines.
Not promotions.
Not even stolen tiffins.

We’re talking about the real war:
THE AIR CONDITIONER.

In our office, it’s a daily drama.

On one side:
The “Antarctica Squad” — people who want the A/C at 16°C and dress like they’re hiking Everest.

On the other:
The “Sun Lovers” — begging for warmth, wearing shawls like they’re in Shimla.

And then…
There’s me.
The neutral party.
The one just trying to survive — not sweat, not shiver, just exist.

Every 30 minutes:

Someone lowers the temp.

Someone raises it.

Someone secretly switches off the A/C.

Maintenance gets called.

A meeting is held.

One colleague even brought their own fan. Another carries a blanket. I’m thinking of installing a thermometer on my desk.

At this point, the A/C remote has more office politics than our team meetings.

Lesson:
Forget team bonding activities.
If we can survive the A/C wars together, we’re already family. ❄️🔥

I’ve set aside 1 lakh for my baby and want to invest it wisely  something long-term that I can give him when he turns 18. Ideally, I want to just invest it and not worry about it much, but I don’t mind adding more to it over the years maybe for his education, travel, or any other needs when he grows up.

Rn, I’m already investing in SIPs and mutual funds for myself. But for this should I look at something else too? Any long-term plans you’d recommend?

Also, just thinking practically if something happens to me, how do I make sure this amount reaches him safely? Any tips around nomination, joint accounts, or will-based planning would really help
