Unreasonable expectations
Hi Everyone, I just joined a company. Within a week, my client is expecting me to enhance their CI/CD pipeline. It has 40+ applications and multiple projects and repositories in gitlab. But there is no proper KT given. I am trying my best to understand but it’s difficult. There is no one to clear doubts also. When I told that I need some time to understand he rudely said we need to deliver these many things by this week else management will raise questions. How to handle this situation? First time working in a service based organisation.

Bro I know it’s tough right now but you are doing your best and you should try to have a conversation with your manager.

Focus on the core parts of the CI/CD pipeline that directly impact the delivery of the product.

What strategies have you tried so far to manage the workload and communicate your concerns to your client?

Don’t stress buddy, has happened to almost everyone at some point of time. Keep at it and try to send regular updates. Keep the key stakeholders on those emails not just your “wonderful” manager. As simple as it may sound, this has worked and continues to work for more and more people, it helps define boundaries and help buy time while you peck away slowly. One more thing, if there are more folks from other teams needed to be involved don’t shy away from doing that, as you might overburden yourself.
