The Ugly Truth About Working at Ola
During my time at Ola Cabs I noticed something many people don't talk about, it wasn't just the founder's expectations that made the culture tough. A lot of it came from how some senior leaders handled day-to-day operations.
There was a constant fear in the air. People were publicly reprimanded, often for minor issues. Decisions like getting punished for missing a Sunday call or taking a day off were common, leaving everyone on edge.
What truly surprised me was how some people quickly rose through the ranks, not because of their skills, but because of their ability to play office politics.
As a result, most of us resorted to just doing the bare minimum to avoid trouble. The energy and drive typically associated with startups seemed absent.
Many of my colleagues have expressed reluctance to join another startup due to the burnout they experienced at Ola. I completely understand their hesitation.
I sincerely hope Ola can turn things around.

It’s beautiful how culture descends to work, descends to what people make, descends to what customers go through

A Team Lead
People start a business to make money. Ola as an idea was supremely successful. Bhavish made tons of money.

The OLA app is too slow and most of time their drivers ghost u and their office politics is also very much evident and i think an organization that works negatively cannot have bright future🤷🏻

Notice period negotiation
I resigned from my current company a couple of days ago. I have a 90 day notice period. I tried to negotiate it with my manager of the current company, asking to release early as the new company has early requirements and also on a medical ground basis, but my manager is not agreeing. I tried to talk with the HR of my current company. HR is ready to give the "buy out" option and I am also ok with it. But for the "buy out" to happen, HR needs something officially written from my manager that I do...
