Salary Negotiation in an interview

Hi, I have had a first round of interview with the company. And mentioned my salary expectations as 15- 20% from my previous LPA. But after that I feel like I have undervalued my expectations. Being in the field for 9 years with the required skill, considering the market and the prospect company is a well known builder, i should have asked more. Anyway a face to face interview is scheduled next week. How to ask them a higher salary from what I have mentioned earlier. And how much I can ask more. Please help. Thanks in advance.

One tip...focus on the value you bring to the company rather than justifying the percentage increase. Have you researched industry standards for your role yet?

If the company values your experience, they’ll understand your request for a fair adjustment. What’s your strategy to present this during the conversation?

Have you checked if their compensation policy includes flexibility for negotiations?

You’re absolutely right to reassess your expectations. Companies appreciate transparency when it’s framed constructively. Maybe start the conversation with, 'After reflecting on the role...' to show you’ve thought deeply about it.

Maybe consider framing your ask as a range instead of a fixed number....it leaves room for negotiation

Just ensure you back your ask with market data and your unique skill set. Are you prepping any specific points to present?

The key word for you here is "revised my expectation". Tell them about your experience and how you can contribute to the company and then based on this you have a revised expectation of xx %.
