Navigating Career Growth as a Junior UI/UX Designer

As a Junior UI/UX Designer in a startup, I’ve been on a journey of continuous learning and growth. Alongside UI/UX, I’ve honed my front-end development skills for both web and mobile, working with: ✅ HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, GSAP, CSS Animations ✅ Angular & Flutter for UI development ✅ Figma, Photoshop & Illustrator for design While I’m grateful for my learning experience, I’ve also signed a 3-year bond with my current organization, and I’ve completed 1 year so far. One of my key concerns is how my current salary will impact my future earning potential. 💡 My long-term goal? To earn ₹1L per month while excelling in UI/UX and front-end development. I know this requires strategic career moves, upskilling, and strong industry experience. Would love to hear insights from experienced professionals: 🔹 How do you balance long-term growth while working under a bond? 🔹 What are the best ways to negotiate salary post-bond? 🔹 Any advice for someone aiming for ₹1L per month in this field?

After your bond ends, start looking for roles where you can demonstrate both design and front-end development expertise. With your skill set, you’ll be in a good position to negotiate for a higher salary, especially with the experience you’ve gained in both fields.

To reach ₹1L per month, consider roles like Senior UI/UX Designer, Front-End Developer, or even hybrid positions that combine both design and development. Look for opportunities with larger companies or product-based startups that can offer better compensation.

The bond can feel like a trap, but use this time to learn and build an impressive portfolio. Focus on making yourself irreplaceable within the company, so when you're ready to move on, you'll have solid leverage.
