Don't give money to your friends and family members with the expectation of getting it back in your mind. It can lead to you losing both the money and the relationship.

I have spread this perception about me that I keep about 20k in liquid cash at all times, rest is invested. So, whenever they ask, I tell them I don't have enough cash available.

But then sometimes people are in dire need in an urgent situation. If I have extra cash lying around then shouldn't I be helping them? I might need that money by say the next month so I can't forget about it.
