Is it advisable to shift from SDE to Technical Product Manager?

Hi, I'm a Salesforce developer with 4+ years of experience and wish to transition to a technical product manager role. How can I prepare for it and what kind of questions are asked in interviews? My current base pay is around 15L so what is the expected pay on switching to TPM? Also is the switch risky in current scenario of mass layoffs as project and product management are usually the first to be fired?

Generally, you can expect a salary increase of 20-30% when transitioning from an SDE to a TPM role.

Absolutely! Your technical depth coupled with a desire to understand the "why" behind product development makes you a strong candidate for a TPM role. Many companies value this transition as it brings a unique perspective.
