Coworkers that act like Managers
Probably worse than regular micro-managers. Because at least they can say its their job. But regular a**workers who act like they can manage you drive me crazy.
There's this girl at my work who used to be a manager at her old job but now she's just a regular part-timer like me. I swearrr she acts like she gets paid more than everyone else! We got hired at the same time for the same position but she acts like she's in charge of me.
Every time she gives me a "task" to do I tell her that her tasks are a suggestion, not instruction, since she's no one's manager here.
She's been a part of many disciplinary conversations regarding her bossiness towards others, but somehow still works here. She knows that no one here likes her, I'm just waiting for her to quit.😅😅

I have one like that. She sends passive aggressive texts in the group chat we’re all forced into about chores and how they were or weren’t done.

[misskick](username) That is NOT an uncommon phenomenon even outside of retail. However as you both hired on at the same time she has no business bossing you around. You're probably way more polite than me because I'm the type that would have a private conversation with the individual and explain that fact to them in no uncertain terms.

An Ops Executive
I have been known to paste a huge smile on my face and, with great excitement, say "Oh, wow! Congratulations! I can't believe you got promoted so fast!"
And then when they look confused and deny having gotten promoted, I say "Oh! I am sorry! From the way you were trying to coach me, I just assumed that I must have missed an announcement...so, I guess Nandini's still my direct."
I have done this routine 4 times over the years, at 3 different companies. It has not changed anyone's behavior overall but 3 of the 4 stopped pulling that crap with me.

It's incredibly frustrating to deal with coworkers who overstep their boundaries, especially when they have no actual authority. It sounds like you're handling the situation well by politely but firmly asserting your position. Have you considered talking to her directly about her behavior, perhaps in a more private setting? Sometimes, a direct conversation can help to resolve issues.
