It's important to communicate with your HR representative to understand the situation and explore other possibilities.

Your allocation end date of December 31, 2024, means that your current project or assignment is scheduled to end on that date. If you're not assigned to a new project by then, it's possible that your employment might be terminated.
But don't worry! It's still possible to find a new role within Cognizant or even explore opportunities outside the company. Just keep communicating with your HR team and be proactive in your job search. Good luck!

That means he will be asked to leave (Resignation) at any moment. The duration which is mentioned on the offer letter is nothing its just the date of contract end. Suggest your friend to start looking for options and if possible get clear picture from HR team over mail. Try to avoid any verbal communications or answers from the management. Any specific reason why he is not getting projects ?

Ask him to speak with hr as aging already stared ,if possible hr can give internal cognizant project which supports their portal and apps .
one more thing he can do is try getting referral from friends so they can help him getting into projects by their connections
