Advise on career switch

Currently working as a supply chain executive in a top-tier Japanese MNC. I joined as a fresher through campus placement. Salary - 4.5 LPA CTC. I am an MBA in International Business from Tier 3 college. I want to transition into more analytics/IT. Before my new job, I will learn new tools for me to enter into the analytics basic domain. Please consider that even where I am in my career, I still want to change fields. Will my work experience help in a new domain? What salary can I expect? I have heard that no matter the new post. The salary depends on the last salary drawn + normal salary hike in market even though you change industry/domain/profile/skills. Is it true? Can't I jump from 4.5 LPA to 8-12 LPA (approx)., if I try through referral, I have good communication skills, soft skills, etc. If yes, how to negotiate? Any advice or resources for advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you to everyone on the Ambition box 😊

IMO, Start with small wins, like working on projects or freelancing. A proven portfolio can significantly boost your chances and salary potential.

The salary hike is not fixed, but don't be afraid to negotiate.

You’re on the right track with learning new tools. Your communication and soft skills will also play a big part in making the transition. Just remember to tailor your resume to highlight transferable skills.
