- Polygon has overhauled its user accounts, allowing users to log in with an email address instead of a username.
- Users can now use their existing Polygon account across multiple Vox Media sites, including The Verge, Vox.com, and New York magazine.
- The revamped account system also includes a verification process for new users, aiming to reduce spam in comment sections.
- Existing users' usernames and comment history have been preserved during the migration.

YouTube quietly made some of its web embeds worse, including ours
- YouTube has disabled the ability to click on the title of its web embeds to open the video on YouTube.com or in the YouTube app.
- This decision was made by YouTube to prioritize monetization, as using a different player pays publishers less and YouTube more.
- Publishers like Vox Media, including The Verge, have been affected by this change in the YouTube Player for Publishers (PfP), which removes branding and the link back to YouTube.
- Publishers now have to choose between a standard YouTube player without control over ads and revenue, or the PfP with control but no link back to YouTube.

OpenAI strikes content deal with Tom’s Guide owner Future
- OpenAI has partnered with Future, the publisher behind Tom’s Guide, PC Gamer, TechRadar, Marie Claire, and many other websites and magazines.
- The partnership allows ChatGPT users to access news and lifestyle content from Future's more than 200 media brands.
- OpenAI has made similar content licensing agreements with Vox Media, News Corp, Dotdash Meredith, Axel Springer, the Financial Times, and The Atlantic.
- However, some publishers, such as The New York Times and The Intercept, have sued OpenAI for alleged copyright infringement.
